First Look at Quentin Tarantino Western!

The beginning of this month saw a glimpse at Quentin Tarantino's take on a Western with the release of the Django Unchained trailer. The film stars Jamie Fox, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L Jackson.

Django Unchained tells the story of slave Django (Foxx), who teams up with a bounty hunter (Waltz) to track down a pair of brothers and free Django's wife in the process. Which it seems will be difficult as she's been captured by Calvin Candie (a delightfully creepy DiCaprio) who runs a plantation.

The trailer shows what you would expect of Tarantino: witty one-liners and brutal violence. The trailer also shows what looks to be a great chemistry between Foxx and Waltz and some great scenes from DiCaprio, who has moved away from his usual good-guy roles, and appears to be having a great time with it! But it looks like we're going to have to wait to see footage of Jackson!

While DiCaprio has made sure Christmas Day is his this year (Django Unchained and The Great Gatsby are released on 25th December in the US), the film marks the return of Jamie Foxx to leading man status since The Soloist in 2009. Interestingly, the role of Django was actually written with Will Smith in mind, but Smith decided to pass and the role was offered to Foxx.

What do you think of the trailer?
