This is the first trailer to be released for the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of the Victor Hugo's novel and a theatre classic - and it looks like it's gonna be an emotional one!
All the dialogue in the film is sung live by the actors; usually they would lip-sync to a pre-recorded track.
Having only been released for a short while, the trailer has already received some heavy criticism. Some are worried it will mislead viewers into believing Hathaway’s character is the story’s leading lady, which she is not. Others have criticised Hathaway’s voice for being too weak for the song 'I Dreamed A Dream'. Personally, I think Hathaway sounds great, and the trailer looks fantastic, boasting some impressive cinematography!
Les Miserables is due to be released in December 14th.
A reason to watch this is I don't remember the 1998 adaptation too well, except it also had a great cast. Hathaway was able to pull off singing as an oscar host, so I think she'll do okay ( :

I've only heard the title being thrown around, but I never really knew a single thing about the story in question. To be honest, I'm also usually turned off whenever they gather big names for the sake of just adding "star power" to a film, but I can see it work as long as it isn't Lindsay Lohan & Lady Gaga who are headlining the posters. I was completely unaware that Mr. Crowe had any singing capabilities, however. Not being able to lip-sync must be torture for the entire cast!
Anyway, the production value is definitely looking good, and I don't believe there are too many big titles opening for a while, so I can totally see this film having plenty of box office success.
I do not understand all the criticism this trailer is taking and certainly don't agree with any of it. Personally, I think Hathaway will do just fine and with Tom Hopper behind it all, I don't think anyone should be worried.

Dan Zukovic's "DARK ARC", a bizarre modern noir dark comedy called "Absolutely brilliant...truly and completely different..." in Film Threat, was recently released on DVD and Netflix through Vanguard Cinema (http://www.vanguardcinema.com/darkarc/darkarc.htm), and is currently debuting on Cable Video On Demand. The film had it's World Premiere at the Montreal Festival, and it's US Premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival. Featuring Sarah Strange ("White Noise"), Kurt Max Runte ("X-Men", "Battlestar Gallactica",) and Dan Zukovic (director and star of the cult comedy "The Last Big Thing"). Featuring the glam/punk tunes "Dark Fruition", "Ire and Angst" and "F.ByronFitzBaudelaire", and a dark orchestral score by Neil Burnett.
